POLAR-1 is a megawatt-scale reactor designed to deliver reliable electricity and thermal energy to remote northern, Indigenous, industrial, and defense sites. Designed for transportability by military aircraft, POLAR-1 can be rapidly deployed to the Arctic with minimal site-specific infrastructure requirements. Its operational flexibility, remote monitoring capabilities, and long service intervals further reduce logistical burdens. By reducing dependence on vulnerable fuel supply chains, POLAR-1 enhances energy security while supporting year-round operations in challenging environments. The reactor leverages proven engineering approaches to minimize technical risk, streamline development, and support future licensing activities. POLAR-1 is targeted to reach criticality by 2028, with fleet scale deployments planned beginning in 2030.
